Horse's trained by Michael Lakey are afforded the luxury of training out of a full-time training complex at Deagon Racecourse which is situated in Brisbane's inner North and is also the home to Racing Queensland. Located right next to the Bruce Highway the Deagon Training Complex provides easy access to not only Doomben and Eagle Farm racecourse's but also the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

Established in approximately 1889. Deagon Racecourse was used for all racing purposes until 1941. It is now the central training facilities for several of Brisbane's best racehorse trainers. One of the many benefits to training out of the Deagon Training Complex is the ability to trial horse's on site. The course proper is 20m wide and 1800m long and holds key trials on a weekly basis.


Red Letter Racing horse's will be able to make full use of Michael Lakey's own stable facilities as well as the training facilities offered at Deagon Training Complex. Facilities offered include:

When not in work, Red Letter Racing horses will spell at Kolora Lodge. Kolora Lodge is a first class spelling and pre-training facility that houses many of the top QLD racehorses and also racehorses who come to QLD for the big races. The facility is immaculate and could be a described as a bit of "Horse Heaven". The facility is owned and managed by Peter and Michelle Macmahon who are very experienced working with horses. After years of hard work and expertise as a showjumper, Peter Macmahon represented Australia in the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. Kolora Lodge are also well reknowned for their astute breaking-in education and our horses will have the opportunity to be educated by industry leaders in this field.

At Kolora Lodge our horses will enjoy rolling green paddocks complete with shelter, 2 hard feeds daily along with summer and winter rugging. The horses also have access to pre-training facilities, barrier stalls, 600m running rail, sand and grass jump training arena's, water walkers etc. Peter and Michelle have done a fantastic job with the facility and Red Letter Racing looks forward to them housing our horses away from the track.
